Do you know about Gianni Versace? The late Italian fashion designer achieved fame for his eye for style as well as for the home he lived in right here in Miami Beach. In 1997, his death made headlines and it is the subject of the upcoming second season of the Emmy-winning American Crime Story anthology series, appropriately titled The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.

Versace’s lavish Mediterranean-style home was known as Casa Casuarina and it sat unused for many years after his passing. It has now taken on new life as a high-end boutique hotel called The Villa Casa Casuarina. Despite the tweak in the name and its reinvention from a home to a hotel, the mansion still retains some of the unique details that Versace added to the home prior to his death. Guests can take a dip in the pool lined with 24-karat gold tiles, relax admire the view on the rooftop observatory, or get some rest on the massive beds that require the use of custom-made sheets. When it comes time to dine, guests can have their meal in Versace’s dining room which is now a gourmet restaurant.
