Groundup Music Festival

This May, the North Beach Bandshell will host the 5th annual GroundUp Music Festival. The event will feature concerts by popular jazz musicians and groups, artist lectures and workshops, food from top local chefs, and exquisite Miami Beach vistas, and will be hosted by three-time Grammy Award winner Snarky Puppy, who will perform all three nights. Emily King, Moonchild, Cory Henry, and more than a dozen other performers, as well as an improvised performance by SpaceJam with Kimbra and Friends, will delight music fans.
Miami City Ballet: Prodigal Son – Adrienne Arsht Center
Friday, May 6 – Sunday, May 8
Over Mother’s Day weekend, the Miami City Ballet will offer three performances of “Prodigal Son.” This dance depicts the exciting Biblical story of a young man who leaves home against his father’s wishes in order to pursue his own life, with music by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography by George Balanchine. The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts will host performances at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Mother’s Day Dinner Show – Bellmónt Spanish Restaurant
Saturday, May 7 & Sunday, May 8
Treat your mother to a joyful evening of Spanish food and dancing at Bellmónt Spanish Restaurant on Mother’s Day. “Pasion Flamenca Under the Stars, Mother’s Day Edition,” held outdoors in gorgeous Coral Gables, is a memorable evening featuring a prix-fixe supper buffet and performances by some of Miami’s top flamenco musicians. At 8:30 p.m., the concert will begin. Saturday, at 8:00 p.m. on the following Sunday Reservations for dinner are recommended and can be made between 6 and 10 p.m.
Mother’s Day at Deering Estate

Take mom to Deering Estate this year to experience the beautiful bayfront location. Guests are invited to bring their own picnic and enjoy this gorgeous property overlooking Biscayne Bay from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take a peaceful trip on the Pelican Skipper (a 45-foot Corinthian catamaran that departs from the estate) before or after your lunch and enjoy a complimentary glass of Champagne. The two-hour cruises leave at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and tickets must be booked in advance online.
