Explore Some of the Best Restaurants in Miami Beach
Now and then it’s useful to take a moment and briefly profile some of Miami Beach’s finest eating spots. Whether you’ve been living in South Beach for years or are just considering making the move, you might want to give these restaurants a shot the next time you’re trying to decide where to eat.
Stubborn Seed
Chef Jeremy Ford became somewhat of a celebrity chef after earning a Michelin star and winning the top prize on Top Chef. His base of operations in South Beach, however, is less opulent than all that and always feels more like a party. Cacio e pepe cheese puffs, which are legendary in and of themselves, and an eight-course, $175 tasting menu, which highlights the skills of one of the best kitchen staffs in Miami-Dade, round out the lively atmosphere.
Byblos Miami
The cuisine of Lebanon and its Eastern Mediterranean neighbors is elevated in this South Beach establishment that is just as opulent as you’d expect. The front dining room, which is divided into two areas, glows in the late-afternoon sunlight, while the back room takes on the vibe of a loungey nightclub after hours. Turkish dumplings, kibbeh, wood-fired pides, and roasted lamb shoulder braised with sumac are just a few of the dishes that seem to be a hit here.
Matador Room
The Matador Room raises the bar for diners with a name like Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten attached, and it more than lives up to expectations in terms of both experience and cuisine. Its 1950s-inspired mid-century design has a far more upscale than stuffy vibe, despite looking like it was designed in that era. The seasonal menu, which incorporates flavors from the Caribbean, Spain, and Latin America, includes artisanal pizzas, delicate seafood options, and plenty of small plates to pass around.
