Happy Friday, everyone! The weather is slightly cooler and the Miami Book Fair has returned. If that doesn’t give you enough of an incentive to go out this weekend, here are a couple of other weekend events worthy of your attention.

The Wynwood Yard is celebrating its third birthday and it just so happens to be doing it during the Miami Folk & Indie Fest. Everything from pop-up shops to poetry and music by locals acts like Foxlove will be featured at this event beginning this afternoon at 5 pm. Best of all, there is no fee to attend the fest.

Did you know that well over ten million tons of clothes are thrown out every year? The staggering number shows there is a tremendous amount of room for improved sustainability. The Funkshion: The Future event is all about fashion and yes, sustainability. Everything from “swap parties” to a runway show are part of the experience of making sure clothing gets the second life it deserves. We can’t forget about the Miami Book Fair which kicks off this weekend. The fair has something for everyone and it will include appearances by names like former Family Ties actress Justine Bateman and Liane Moriarty, the author of Big Little Lies.
