Many of us will have the privilege of enjoying a long weekend thanks to Independence Day falling on a Tuesday this year. If you’re looking for things to do this weekend to get you in the mood for Tuesday’s festivities, here are a couple of suggestions.

Tonight, head to Wynwood Yard to check out the forward thinking hip-hop stylings of local Miami favorite ArtOfficial. Known for their brilliant instrumentation and old school verses, take some time to stop by. Alternatively, check out the SpeakFridays: Elevate at the Light Box. Comedy, poetry, music, and more will be in store at this open mic event.

Tomorrow, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables will host its annual and incredibly popular International Mango Festival. Sample a seemingly endless array of mangos, sip some mango-tinged beer, it really is all about the mango. Over at the Faena Theater, Miami native Monique Marvez will perform her distinct brand of standup comedy.

On Sunday, the Carillon Miami Beach will host Red, White & ‘Cue. To get people in the mood, servers will bring you barbecue appropriate bites to your lounge chair as you enjoy the musical stylings of DJ YSL and a live steel drum band.
